For some organizations, a system must be retired. This can be due to a contract ending or even because a software package is no longer being supported by the vendor. The Office of the CIO (OCIO) for the BC Government used Maximo to store workstation and location data, but they had a plan to retire this software from their IT systems. We worked closely with them over the course of many months to normalize the existing data, migrate it into ServiceNow, and then have a small integration that picks up new data added in the system until they begin the retirement process for Maximo. This solution’s flexibility allows the OCIO to ensure that they can retire Maximo on their own timeline and be confident that all the data they will need in ServiceNow is already there.
